Thick long hair with waves will sizzle; and if you want to get the kind of volume and wave that this hairstyle is all about, use very large curlers. Don't forget, though that you want waves, not curls. The waves you're looking for are very much like the kind you get if you braid your hair while wet. You allow it to dry and then when you remove the braid, you get perfect uniform waves.

Doing braid on your own can be quite tricky, so opt for the easy way out and do some quick twists instead. Get a 3-inch section of hair on one side of your usual hair part, and then divide it in two. Form a tight weave by crisscrossing one section over the other. Hold in place with a hair tie that blends into your tresses.
